Frequently Asked Questions

What is Skyscanner?

We are a flight search engine which can help you find flights from multiple airline sites. Read more in the About Us section.

Our goal is to show the prices of every flight from every airline and as such, we are adding new airlines all the time. Where we do not have prices, we will provide links to all the airlines on any given route.

How do I find a flight?

Know exactly when and where you want to travel? Enter the details and click "SEARCH" to get prices instantly.

Flexible about when you can travel?

Instead of entering specific dates, you can shop around for the best deals by selecting "Whole month" and use our price calendar or chart to find the cheapest day to fly. Select "Whole year" to find the cheapest month.

To change between views click Calendar or Chart.

You can also use the quick links on our homepage to search for weekend, one week or two week breaks.

Too many options?

Our filters allow you to search based on time and/or the airlines flying to your destination.

Search Tips...

  • Book early – though you can sometimes snag a cheap last minute deal, most of the time the conventional wisdom stands true: the earlier you book; the cheaper your flight.
  • Travel mid-week – Monday to Thursday is generally the cheapest time to fly, and try to avoid Fridays and Sundays if you want to save the big bucks.
  • Fly at off-peak times – if money is more important than time, choose flights outside of peak travel hours – this often means picking the very earliest or latest flights, but at least it maximises your stay.
  • Book two singles rather than a return – always worth checking the price of two singles – as sometimes it can be cheaper than a return.

Where can I fly?

Not sure where you can fly to from your local airport? Or which airports have flights to your chosen destination? Skyscanner's route map shows you the direct and indirect destinations from your airport.

Don't know where to go?

Why not browse through some options? Enter your nearest airport in the "From" box, leave the "To" box blank and see where we can take you.

Want to fly direct?

Skyscanner search for direct flights first. If you want to see indirect options for your trip simply click on the add indirects link.

Multi ticket flights

This journey is sold as separate tickets.

Multiple bookings - we advise you do not complete booking any part of your journey until you have taken all tickets to the final confirmation stage.

Connection times - you should allow enough time between flights to collect your luggage and check-in for the second flight

Search Tips...

  • Fly indirect – it may take a little longer, but flying to your destination via a two leg journey can save a lot of money. If you’re using a low cost carrier, be sure to leave enough time between connections as you’ll have to go through check-in and security clearance twice.
  • Fly to/from regional airports – it can be cheaper to fly to the smaller regional airports rather than the large city hubs. Remember to factor in your onward travel expenses to your final destination. Some cities offer a group search option – e.g. London (Any) to make it easier for you to search several airports at a single click.

How much do you pay?

Click the price where you see the clock symbol to check the latest price and availability.

The price in the airline's or online travel agent's website may be displayed in a different currency and may include optional fees for bags, check-in or insurance. Please contact us if you find a price difference.

How do you book?

Simply click the "Book" button to buy flights directly from the airline or online travel agent. If the new window doesn't open you may have to change the pop-up blocker settings on your computer.

To confirm or change your booking, you should contact the company you booked with directly.
